"To Provide Safe, Dependable, Cost-Effective Service, Utilizing The Best Trained Employees and Superiorly Maintained Vehicles.”-Mission Statement |

Safety, Dependability and Cost-Effectiveness are certainly important concerns to our customers. In the many years Huntington Coach and Hendrickson Bus have been in business, we have found that by; 1. Hiring quality drivers and molding them with our innovative training program, and 2. Implementing a vehicle maintenance program that is second to none, we are able to meet these concerns like no other transportation contractor. |

Our Management staff is dedicated to ensuring that, once our Personnel department has selected an acceptable candidate, our employees are the best trained drivers that you will encounter on the road. Less than 15% of the people who apply to drive for us make the team. This is accomplished through our state of the art, yet ever improving, training program, recognized as one of the best in New York State. Regardless of whether a driver has been trained or worked elsewhere, all applicants must complete our training procedures. Our first-try pass rate on Department of Motor Vehicle Road Tests is over 90%.

Our Superintendent of Maintenance, now Vice President and General Manager – Kevin Kalberer, has, over many years, developed a maintenance program and staff that are unparalleled. In November of 1999, again in 2000, 2001, 2002 and yet again in 2003 our company was publicly recognized by the Department of Transportation as having one of the most outstanding maintenance programs in the State. In November of 2002 and again in 2003, our maintenance department was recognized by the NYSDOT as having the best inspection record in the State of New York in the extra-large company category. In the Spring of 2004, School Bus Fleet Magazine, the premiere magazine of the school transportation industry, named our family of companies as one of the top 10 maintenance programs in the United States. We were the only private company to receive that recognition nation wide. The specifications and standards we request when purchasing new equipment are more stringent and costly than other companies, but these have proven over the years to provide us with the safest, most reliable vehicles on the road. |

Safety and Dependability rely heavily on good communication. Every vehicle we operate is equipped with a high band two-way radio to assure constant communication and dispatch control. Unlike most other companies, we do not allow drivers to take their vehicles home, they all must return to our facilities after every trip. We feel this gives us greater control of our fleet and personnel, as we see each driver before and after every trip they make. Too often, communicating Bus Safety to the children is left for the Schools to handle, rather than the transportation professionals. We provide our school districts with a unique and popular program known as “Buster”. Buster is a three-foot tall robotic school bus that teaches, sings songs and answers the children’s questions. Children love it, parents love it, but most important of all, the message is communicated in a way the children will remember. We are also a proud Corporate Sponsor of the Long Island chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. |
